Boards
Boards are infinite visual canvases where you arrange links, notes, diagrams, and other nodes. Pin your most-used slugs, draw diagrams, and collaborate in real time.
Overview
A board is made up of nodes connected by optional edges. Each node holds a specific type of content — a link, a sticky note, an image, a running timer. You can drag, resize, and connect any node to any other.
Boards live inside a workspace and inherit its permissions. You can make a board private, visible only to workspace members, or publicly shareable via a link.
Creating a board
- In the sidebar, click New board or press
Cmd+Shift+N. - Choose Blank canvas or pick a template (see Templates below).
- Name the board. You can rename it at any time by double-clicking the title in the header.
Node types
Press Tab on an empty canvas to open the node picker, or right-click anywhere to get the context menu.

| Note | Markdown-formatted text. Supports headings, bold, lists, and code. | Double-click to edit. Resize by dragging corners. |

| Frame | A labelled container that groups other nodes. Useful for clustering related items (e.g. “Design system links”). | Drag nodes into or out of a frame. |
| Sitemap | Auto-crawls a URL up to its configured depth and renders clickable pages in a tree layout. | Click any page node to open it. Hover to preview. |
| Invoice | A structured invoice card with line items, tax, and PAID / DRAFT / SENT status. | Click to edit amounts and status. Export as PDF (whitelabelled on Pro+). |
| Time tracker | Running timer with start, pause, and lap. Tags entries to a project and assignee. | Start / pause from the node. Roll up across the workspace in Reports. |

Connecting nodes
Hover over any node until you see a blue dot appear on its edge. Click and drag from that dot to another node to draw a connector. Connectors can be labelled — double-click the line to add text.
You can change a connector's style (straight, curved, or elbow) from the right-click context menu on the connector.

BookSlash ships with 25+ opinionated templates. Pick one when creating a new board, or apply a template to an existing blank board via Board menu > Apply template.

Version history
Every change to a board is saved automatically. To browse the history, open Board menu > Version history. Click any checkpoint to preview. Click Restore to roll back.
